Grupo Asal — comprising Andaluza de Sales Marinas S.L. and Marítima de Sales S.L. — is one of Spain’s leading companies in the production, packaging, and marketing of sea salt. Operating since 1968, the group manages three saltworks across the Bay of Cádiz, Salinas Santa María in El Puerto de Santa María, Salinas del Estanquillo in San Fernando producing since the Phoenician times, and the most recently developed Marismas de Cetina in Puerto Real. Together, these facilities will enable an annual production capacity of nearly 500,000 tonnes of high-purity Atlantic sea salt.

Its operations extend over more than 2,100 hectares, part of which lie within the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park, a RAMSAR site of international importance and a member of the EU Natura 2000 network. Other sites are officially recognised in the Andalusian Wetlands Inventory and classified as Ecological Reserves, underscoring the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the preservation of traditional salt-making practices.

Grupo Asal produces natural sea salt for food and industry, supplying most of the major private-label brands in Spain and other european countries. It also offers salt for food processing, water treatment, and road de-icing. Its main consumer brand, Chalupa, is widely recognised across the country, while Halos Selection represents the group’s foray into the gourmet market, celebrating the unique character of Atlantic sea salt from the Bay of Cádiz.
