Honorary Member 2025: Rosa María Martínez Espinosa

Rosa María Martínez Espinosa is a Full Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Alicante, where she also serves as Vice-Rector for International Relations and Development Cooperation. A leading figure in academic governance and international scientific collaboration, she coordinates the Cooperation Working Group within CRUE’s sector on internationalization and represents CRUE on Spain’s National Advisory Council for Cooperation.

Her extensive experience includes participating as evaluator and reviewer in major European research programmes such as H2020 and Horizon Europe, as well as national calls for doctoral fellowships and research projects. She is a member of multiple accreditation panels for university degrees and institutional evaluation in several Spanish quality agencies (ACSUCYL, ANECA, ACPUA, AQUIB, DEVA), and since 2024 she has served on ANECA’s Commission 5 for the assessment of academic qualifications for Associate and Full Professorships.

With more than 150 scientific and technical publications, her research has significantly advanced the understanding of halophilic microorganisms and their role in saline ecosystems.
